정비 탐정은 바닥에 비친 작은 얼룩을 보고 고개를 숙였다.

그는 손전등을 들고 엔진 하부를 살폈다.
로커 커버 주변은 말끔했다. 오일 필터 하우징도, 크랭크샤프트 실 주변도 건조했다.
그런데 — 드레인 플러그 주변만 축축하게 젖어 있었다.
“흠, 오일팬 전체가 아니라 딱 플러그 근처라… 이건 단순한 가스켓 문제만은 아니야.”
그는 플러그를 살짝 만져보았다. 미묘하게 느슨했다.

The rocker cover was dry, the oil filter housing spotless, and no trace of oil around the crankshaft seal.
But then — Only the sump drain plug area was wet.
“Hm… not the whole pan, just around the plug. That’s not just a gasket issue.”
He touched the plug gently. It wobbled slightly.
“Over-tightened… the threads must have been damaged. Now it can’t seal properly.”
He scribbled a note in his worn-out pad:
